Some of us see the things around us as they are. And some people, inventors, like Thomas Edison, Benjamin Franklin, and Henry Ford, see things as they could be.
That ability to envision better ways to do things is exactly why First Down exists.
In 2014, with over 25 years of oil industry experience under his belt, Hollins Bergeron left his work as a consultant to manage E-line and Slickline Operations for Crescent Energy Services.
He oversaw a team doing P&A jobs using conventional methods and tools that were cumbersome and time-consuming to use.
Hollins knew there had to be a better way.
Perhaps a way that used the Electric line E-4 Baker Setting tool that was standard in the field.
So, Hollins started searching online to locate a better tool, but it didn’t exist.
That’s when he decided to build his own tool as something that could be offered exclusively to the oilfield industry. Little did he know what this tool would become.
Using pieces of several existing tools, Hollins created what would become known as the Hydro-Firing Head.
Originally, he just wanted something that would simplify plugging a well, but he discovered that it could do much more, so he created and added the slotted sleeve.
Hollins took the tool into the field for testing and found the tool was better than what he ever imagined. And his idea grew; he partnered with investors, and a company was born.
We aren’t a P&A company. We’re a company built on innovation. We’re a company that cares about the environment.
We’re First Down.
